It feels like a mix of old school filmmaking transitioning into a more modern style. You can still see the classic Bond DNA in the use of miniatures, and practical stunts, but at the same time it starts leaning into faster pacing, more aggressive editing, and a slightly grittier tone compared to earlier entries. Not fully classic, not fully modern yet. The sets are not as impressive as the earlier Bond films. There are still a lot of miniatures. When it finally commits to a large scale action set piece like the tank chase in the city, it oddly feels goofy for a James Bond standard. It is big and loud, but it loses that sleek and coolness that I expect from Bond. The villain’s motivation is also weak for me. It is there, but it does not feel strong or compelling enough to elevate the conflict.
