The Usual Suspects 1995

I lost interest at first because there were a bunch of names that sounded like bullshit to me, like the names didn’t freaking fit into the narrative. It felt like word salad, like I was just being played around with. Kobayashi? Keyser Söze? Redfoot? Well, guess what? That is literally the design of the film once you get to the ending. They were not flaws in the storytelling. They were part of the deception. Definitely worth a rewatch. I just wish there were actual flashbacks showing what really happened, instead of only the story we were told. The film is successful in fooling Agent Kujan, who basically represents the audience too. We believe the story because he believes it, only to realize that both of us have been played.
