High energy prologue agad by PTA. Ramdam mo na from the start na chaotic, ambitious, at very ensemble driven ito. Ang daming familiar faces from Boogie Nights. Parang reunion ng PTA regulars. Tom Cruise here gives me Jordan Belfort energy. Loud, confident, aggressive, and very performative, pero may pinanggagalingan din na insecurity underneath. Ang daming long uninterrupted takes. Tatak PTA talaga. He lets scenes breathe and allows chaos to unfold within the frame instead of cutting away. It makes everything feel overwhelming, in a deliberate way. There are a lot of characters introduced, and you can already tell na eventually they will be interconnected in some way. The film constantly jumps between their lives, traumas, and emotional baggage. Mas magaling yung acting ni Julianne Moore dito. Mas solid yung range niya. Emotional breakdowns, guilt, desperation, lahat ramdam at hindi pilit. This is the most ambiguous film PTA made for me. Less than an hour left and I still didn’t get the whole picture. Parang intentionally disorienting, as if the film wants you to sit in confusion instead of giving you clarity. Nakakagulat yung raining frogs scene. Out of nowhere, sobrang lakas ng sound effect. Ang ganda ng CGI, hindi halata, at tangible yung mga frogs. Pero hanggang dulo, I was still asking, what’s the significance? Until the end, parang hindi naman sila naging fully connected lahat. I didn’t feel much emotional payoff. I appreciate the ambition, the performances, and the direction, but personally, wala akong masyadong nafeel dito sa film na ito.
