Emily Blunt is so gorgeous kahit saang role niya. She’s so fun to watch with how quirky and confident she moves in this adventure movie. Even when she is completely terrified and panicking because of her fear of water, she somehow still manages to be adorable.
This might have been greater if it were done with less CGI and more of the real thing.
I really love the flashback sequence too. Nice story, great sets, real fire, and a score that gives the whole sequence that darker tone.
Overall, I really enjoyed the adventure vibe. It has that Indiana Jones DNA with treasure hunting, ancient mythology, hidden secrets, puzzles, and heroes constantly stumbling into danger while chasing something legendary. At the same time, it reminds me of Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid because of the river journey, hostile jungle environment, and that feeling of being deep inside a place where literally everything around you could become a threat. It is basically old school jungle adventure wrapped in a modern Disney blockbuster.
