Chaos Walking 2021

Weird premise. It feels like everyone suddenly has Professor X level mind reading powers. All the men’s thoughts are just floating around them like subtitles they cannot turn off. Kind of messy but interesting at the same time. It was honestly funny that women do not have the noise here. Just like in real life, minsan parang impossible din basahin or intindihin ang nasa isip nila. And if I think about it another way, the fact that a bunch of men start losing their minds when a blonde woman appears out of nowhere is also unintentionally funny. The real locations and set pieces are really nice though. They help build this dystopian world in a grounded way. The cinematography is actually great too. There are some really strong wide shots and textured outdoor scenes. The visuals are doing heavy lifting here. But the story is the weak point for me. It feels like the concept is stronger than the execution. And honestly, Tom and Daisy have no chemistry at all. I never fully believed in their connection, which makes the emotional stakes feel flat. Also, low key terrifying concept. Hopefully this reality never comes true because imagine everyone seeing my crazy thoughts and wild daydreaming floating in the air. I'll get cancelled. Still, I kind of wish we get a More Than This film adaptation from Patrick Ness. I feel like that story has more emotional depth and psychological weight if handled right. That one could really hit.
