The Killer 2023

Whatever it takes, make sure you are one of the few. Not one of the many. Full of David Fincher’s signature style: controlled camera movements, precise framing, dark and muted colors, lowkey lighting, meticulous compositions, and that cold, calculated atmosphere where everything feels deliberately placed. Even the violence is approached with this cold, procedural quality. Observe. Prepare. Execute. Move on. There is very little visual chaos unless Fincher specifically wants you to feel it, which perfectly complements a character obsessed with control and precision. The voice over is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes it is punchy and gives you a good look into his mindset, but sometimes it feels dragging. This just feels like a perfectionist finally coming to terms with the fact that he is imperfect. He builds his entire identity around discipline, patience, preparation, and never making mistakes, only for one mistake to completely disrupt his carefully controlled existence. But no matter how calculated you are, you are still human. You can miss. You can panic. You can contradict your own rules. And eventually, even someone obsessed with being “one of the few” has to accept that maybe he is also just one of the many.
