Rango 2011

An animated film with a strong western motif, elevated by Roger Deakins’ lighting, which makes it feel surprisingly cinematic. The score by Hans Zimmer also adds a lot. It gives the film that heroic and adventurous tone, pushing the story forward with energy and emotion. Story wise, it actually shares similarities with Dune. It is about people fighting over scarce resources and standing up against those in power.
