Contagion 2011

No need for spoiler warning here. This feels like 2020 done in 2011. Simple as that. Watching Contagion now is so prophetic. What was once meant to terrify now feels very familiar. Since we’ve already lived through COVID-19, the fear doesn’t hit the same way, but it replaces shock with recognition. I honestly can’t imagine how terrifying this must have been to watch pre-pandemic. The paranoia is very real. What stood out most is how the film now feels less like fiction and more like a documentary. It also shows the government trying to keep up while people panic, distrust authority, and look for something or someone to blame. Jude Law’s character is effective. Galing ng pagkakakupal niya. At first, his exposure of Dr. Ellis’s hypocrisy feels justified, even necessary. But he goes too far. He becomes a fake news peddler. He represents how fear, distrust, and misinformation spread just as fast as any virus.
