Surprisingly, the CGI is not off because of the combination of animatronics which are appreciated because the level of realness is high. John Williams’ superb score adds that sense of wonder, grandeur, and adventure. The acting of Sam Neill and Laura Dern during their first dinosaur encounter was great. Their faces sell the awe. The film is also great at implying future danger. It builds tension carefully, making me anticipate something bad even before it happens. I remember this kind of feeling when I was a child watching Gremlins. The shaping of light on the faces of the actors is definitely a directorial intention of Spielberg because it reminds me of Schindler’s List.
