Last Action Hero 1993

I feel like I was the kid, always wanting to watch a movie in the theater and always predicting what’s going to happen. The explosions look great when they are practical. They feel like a real old action movie. It only looks less convincing whenever it switches to VFX. This gives me Home Alone vibes. Action through the eyes of a kid. The dialogues also feel like it is dissing at how stupid and predictable action movies can be. I can clearly feel John McTiernan’s DNA through the color palette, camera movements, how the stakes are communicated, and the villain characterization. The third act is intriguing when the movie characters and the real life actor collide. The film’s message is clear. My favorite heroes will always be there in films whenever I need them.
