Charlie Wilson's War 2007

Too politicky for me. Most of the movie is basically about slowly piecing together the political puzzle required to accumulate enough money, influence, and support for one specific war effort. I can appreciate how all those seemingly small conversations and negotiations eventually build toward this huge sense of accomplishment by the end. But I don’t know, maybe it is the dialogue that kept me at a distance. I can sit through all the politics, meetings, arguments, and government discussions in Oppenheimer and still remain completely locked in because the dialogue itself constantly feels sharp and dramatic. Here, I understood what everyone was trying to accomplish, but I struggled to stay invested in the process of getting there. I can appreciate the payoff once all the pieces finally come together, but getting through the political maneuvering was much harder for me than the destination itself.
