Death Proof 2007
So this is how it feels when Quentin Tarantino directs a Fast and Furious movie? Intense and heart pounding!
You really have to give it to Zoë Bell for the stunts. Absolutely fearless. And credit to the editor for maintaining tension despite the cuts. Even with quick transitions, the rhythm never breaks. The camera department also deserves praise for capturing that high speed, high octane car chase. You feel the velocity, and the risk in every frame.
QT DNA is all over this film. Dialogue-heavy scenes that slowly build tension, strong cinematography, sharp sound design, and of course, violence. Tarantino takes his time letting characters talk, joke, argue, and exist before unleashing chaos.
One thing that really caught my attention was the dialogue touching on being pro-gun. It doesn’t feel random. It feeds into the film’s themes of power, control, and who gets to hold it. It quietly sets up the moral shift that happens later.
And that revenge sequence? Ang angas! Fully deserved. I was smiling the whole time. Stuntman Mike finally found someone who could match him, and watching the tables turn is deeply satisfying.
Death Proof may look simple on the surface, but it’s pure Tarantino indulgence. Slow burn, explosive release, and a cathartic ending that makes all the buildup worth it.
