The grading leans into dusty earth tones and harsh sunlight, which makes the Middle Eastern setting feel hot, tense, and constantly on edge. The action sequences instantly reminded me of Black Hawk Down, which makes sense since it is the same director. The handheld chaos, the sudden bursts of explosives, and the grounded tactical movement all carry that same kinetic war energy. I found the story a bit hard to follow because of the layered deceptions. There are multiple intelligence agents, local assets, double crosses, and shifting loyalties. It becomes a puzzle with too many moving pieces, which fits the theme of espionage but can also feel overwhelming for some. Ridley Scott focuses more on operational tension and atmosphere to fully fleshing out motivations through dialogue. Some conversations feel prolonged and procedural, which might drag for viewers who want clearer emotional anchors. Mark Strong completely disappears into his role. I genuinely had to remind myself it was him. The accent work, the facial hair, the composed demeanor, and the refined styling all convincingly portray a wealthy and calculated Middle Eastern intelligence figure. He feels controlled and dangerous. Leonardo is Leonardo. His performance is solid as expected, but I felt he was somewhat under utilized for most of the film. The moment that truly stands out is the third act torture sequence. That is where the vulnerability, fear, and desperation finally explode on screen and remind me of how powerful he can be when the material allows him to fully break down.
