Quantum of Solace 2008

The film starts with chaotic camera movement and very fast cutting. It feels messy and hard to follow at times. The cinematography also feels too clean compared to the previous Bond films, it lost some of the touch of the predecessors, osing some of that gritty texture. Ironically, the only thing that consistently looks dirty, worn down and raw is Olga Kurylenko’s character. The film feels like it suddenly became self aware and snapped back into its natural form. The moment they take the airplane in the desert, the visuals become more controlled. The camera movements settle down, and the cinematography starts to look more composed. The main issue for me is the villain and the stakes. They do not feel big enough or threatening enough to match the scale expected from a Bond film. It lacks that strong central force that drives the tension.
