I was constantly on edge and guarded because the framing kept suggesting that something was about to jumpscare me, but nothing really did.
The film is successful in creating a gripping story and an eerie, suspenseful atmosphere. My heart was genuinely pounding almost every second.
Well, I read explanations online saying that there are really undertones of guilt, fear of becoming a mother, loss of faith, and other deeper themes, but honestly, I didn’t think about any of that while watching. Maybe I was just too focused on expecting some kind of twist that would eventually give me a cathartic payoff.
And after all the mythology building around the backward logic, I kind of wished the film had gone further and given me a fully fleshed out demonic reveal. It spent so much time making me curious about the rules and what was behind everything that I wanted a more concrete payoff to all that setup.
Watched in Netflix.
