The Magnificent Seven 2016

While watching this, it really reminds me a lot of Seven Samurai (1954). A group of skilled warriors with different personalities and motivations coming together to defend ordinary people who cannot defend themselves. There is also that same preparation before the inevitable attack, getting to know each member of the group, and eventually seeing them fight and sacrifice for a community that was initially not their own. But this time, instead of rural Japan, the look and atmosphere feel more like Django Unchained (2012), with the dusty Western landscapes, gunslingers, horses, and old American frontier setting. Love the real locations, landscapes, sets, wardrobe, and cinematography. And the cast kind of feels like this wild, unexpected collaboration that no one asked for, yet seeing all of them together becomes part of the fun. Everything is technically great, but as a whole, it never feels as epic or memorable as Seven Samurai or Django Unchained.
