The Great Flood 2025

Hindi naghold back ang film. Baha agad. Walang warm up, diretso chaos. I appreciate the attempt at long uninterrupted shots. Magaling yung pagkakatago ng cuts. It keeps the tension flowing without feeling gimmicky. The CGI is okay. Hindi standout, but it does its job. The drama and emotions are high, and the acting feels believable. Hindi pilit. The musical score helps a lot in adding emotional depth, especially during heavier moments. I like the story angles used to humanize the AI. There’s a scene that really reminded me of Titanic, yung elderly couple facing imminent death together. Simple but effective. The twists work. I had this feeling na siya mismo yung experiment, and kailangan niyang ipasa yung tests by helping others in order to perfect emotions. Parang emotional trial by fire, or by flood. Visually, maganda yung aesthetic. Parang everything is seen through the eyes of a scientist watching lab rats inside a maze. Controlled chaos. Observation without interference. At first, you think this is just a simple disaster movie, but it’s much more than that. It’s actually a time loop film, but it smartly skips repetitive scenes so the audience doesn’t get bored. Certain memories are retained, parang rats learning how to solve a maze more efficiently each time. At the core, this is really a reflection of a mother’s love. Going through all the disasters and loops just to find her way back to her child. Mothers would dive into any great flood for their children. There’s also that idea of breaking against programming, parang source code being overridden by emotion and choice. Kim Da Mi is better here compared to Itaewon Class. Mas layered yung performance niya. Symbolically, the great flood works well. In the Bible, the flood presents as a divine reset to preserve and restart humanity. Here, it represents something similar: the birth of new beings. Human like, three dimensional printed AI learning emotions through lived experience.
