Nowhere 2023

Shocking. I care most about her because she’s pregnant. If not, I couldn’t care less. There were themes that reminded me of Pieces of a Woman (2020) and The Fall (2022), with how suffering, survival, and motherhood become intertwined. The score is great, especially when it swells up during key triumphant moments. It really amplifies the emotion. This kind of film makes you feel the pain the main character is feeling. Very effective. Nowhere is such a simple story about the lengths a mother will go to save her child, but it was told in the most beautiful and heartfelt way. All the pieces of filmmaking just came together nicely: the directing, lighting, scoring, editing, production design, writing. Together they make the survival feel intimate and emotionally genuine. Great film!
