Death of a Unicorn 2025

There’s a really strong connection moment early on that feels almost IMAX worthy. That zoom in pulls you into something bigger, parang multiversal level, may Doctor Strange vibe. Film grain is very noticeable, which adds texture to the experience. The film clearly tackles corporate greed, especially once a cure for cancer is discovered. It’s interesting how that miracle immediately collides with substance abuse and exploitation. Instead of hope, people react with excess and corruption, which feels sadly believable. The CGI of the unicorns is genuinely good. Especially in the close ups. The fur, skin, muscle, and even bone structure feel real. Hindi siya mukhang fake or weightless. You can tell effort was put into making the creatures feel tangible, parang totoong hayop talaga ang kinunan. That said, I didn’t really connect with the father and daughter storyline. Emotionally, it didn’t anchor the film enough for me. Because of that, the horror elements never really had real stakes. Walang sense of danger that sticks. It looks good, but it doesn’t hit hard. Visually impressive, conceptually interesting, but emotionally and tension wise, it falls short.
