I think just listening to Jason Bateman already keeps me engaged. I liked him a lot in Ozark and his voice naturally carries that same sarcastic energy here. It makes Nick feel charming even when he is being a bit shady. This one feels like a much more fun and thrilling ride compared to the first film. The water slide sequence especially stands out. That scene alone already gives the movie a burst of energy and chaos that made me enjoy the ride more. I also really like the moment when they start “oversharing” with each other. Seeing them become vulnerable actually strengthens their partnership. It shows that trust between them is not just built on solving cases but also on understanding each other. Underneath all the humor and action, the story is still talking about racism and stigma. In their world it is more like “specism,” judging animals based on their species and past reputation. The film also touches on the difficulty of returning to society after being labeled or rejected. At the end it still carries that hopeful idea that acceptance is possible when people are willing to understand each other instead of clinging to fear or prejudice.
