I had a blast with this. The film kept me constantly engaged because every situation felt like a puzzle waiting to be solved. I also loved how much tension it could squeeze out of ordinary places by making every conversation and every interaction feel like it could suddenly go wrong. Josh Hartnett completely carries the film for me. His performance constantly shifts between different sides of the same person, making it hard to look away whenever he's on screen. Even when I thought I knew where the story was heading, it still found ways to keep me entertained. ⚠️ Spoilers ahead. From here on, plot details are discussed. Read on if you’ve seen the film. If not, save this post and come back after. ⚠️ I kind of figured out early on that he was the Butcher, and from that point, I started rooting for him just to see how the hell he was going to get away. The framing is great because it constantly makes Cooper look physically trapped, even when his mind is still looking for another exit. I like how smoothly he blends in and transforms his persona depending on what the situation needs. He can become the harmless dad, the charming stranger, the nervous civilian, or the confident manipulator almost instantly. It goes to show how serial killers can be charming and look like completely ordinary people instead of fitting whatever image or prejudice we already have in our heads. Josh Hartnett played the role perfectly. I thought everything would be over after the concert, but then the tension actually increased once they went back to their residence. The discovery of Spencer reminded me of how Brie Larson’s character was found in Room (2015). Then I thought it was finally over once Lady Raven escaped, but Cooper is very intelligent. He always seems to have another way out. The plot just keeps thickening with every turn of events, and every time I think the trap has finally closed, Cooper finds another crack to slip through. Watched in Netflix.
