Predator: Badlands 2025

May strong motivation agad sa umpisa pa lang, so mabilis kang mahook sa story. Maraming action. Sa early part ng movie, sobrang dami ng CGI to the point na nakaka exhaust na siya. Some shots don’t feel believable yet, parang overloaded. Pero maganda yung epic musical score that helps carry the scale. The film uses anamorphic lenses, which gives it that wide, cinematic feel. World building is also nice. Mukhang may combination ng real locations, practical sets, and Volume. May shots na mukhang painting din. Maraming shots dito na ramdam mong pang IMAX talaga. Interesting makita yung Predator as the prey. I like how they showed the expressions of the Yautja. Hindi lang siya monster, may personality at emotion din pala. May standout kills, especially yung bone bison kill. Brutal and memorable. Visual popcorn! It’s one action sequence after another. Some fight scenes honestly feel like video games. Pero later on, dito na nagsimulang gumanda yung CGI. Mas believable na yung textures ng monsters. The battle with Kalisk looks realistic. Parang Monster Hunter vibes but make it x100 better. Ang ganda ng shot nung nabutas yung katawan ng isang synthetic guard, tapos yung reveal shot ni Dek after. Ang angas, money shot! The fight choreography of the duo, upper and lower body coordination ni Thia, ang galing. I also liked Dek’s character development. From being a loner, he slowly becomes a wolf, someone who finds belonging and identity. Also a protector. The Weyland Yutani look is consistent here, similar to Alien Romulus. That yellowish, dusty, industrial mood of the camp works really well. Ang ganda rin ng texture ng power loader mech ni Tessa. Honestly, mas maganda pa yung texture nito compared sa mech in Avatar. The ending battle against his father got me clapping. That closing line, “I have my own clan,” lands emotionally and thematically. Biggest regret ko talaga is not watching this in IMAX.
