Nosferatu (2024) review

Robert Eggers is clearly imprinting his cinematic DNA here. If there’s anyone who can convince me to watch a Dracula movie, it’s him. That said, I’m really not into gothic horror, and no matter how beautifully this film is shot, it still failed to fully capture my attention. I couldn’t feel what was truly at stake, emotionally or narratively, so the experience stayed distant for me. Bill Skarsgård disappears once again into his role as Count Orlok. Almost like Heath Ledger channeling an older version of the Joker. The physicality, the presence, the way he inhabits the character, it’s impressive and unsettling. On a lighter note, the moral of the story feels hilariously simple: wag basta pirma nang pirma without reading the fine print. 😆 A gothic horror cautionary tale about contracts gone wrong. Technically, there’s very little to criticize. The cast is strong, the production design is detailed and immersive, the wardrobe is period-accurate, and the hair, makeup, and prosthetics work are all top-tier. Everything is crafted with intention and care. But despite all of that, nothing really resonated with me. I can appreciate the craft, the atmosphere, and the performances, but emotionally, it just didn’t connect.
