No Other Choice 2025

If not, save this post and come back after. ⚠️ Di ko talaga alam kung ano ang gustong maging ng film na ito. Comedy ba siya? Family drama? Erotic? Identity theft? Thriller? Or pure despair lang dahil nawalan siya ng trabaho? Para siyang film na deliberately nagrerefuse mag-stay sa isang genre, which can be intriguing at first, pero eventually nakakagulo rin. Not Son Ye-jin flirting with another man younger than her agai hahaha. Reminds me of something in the rain. What I did like is how methodical the father is in devising his plans. He’s careful not to incriminate himself directly. Instead, he frames his victims in a way that the crimes will never be traced back to him. It’s cold, and calculated. By the end, what I got from the film is a grim question: how far can a father go just to provide for his family and maintain their lifestyle? And on the other side, how much can a wife tolerate and consciously ignore the dark sides of her partner for the sake of family stability? This film leaves you sitting with the messiness of survival, compromise, and the quiet justifications people make when they feel they have no other choice.
