17 minutes in, ramdam mo na agad na quiet film ito. Tahimik pero mabigat yung atmosphere. The story revolves around a group of friends who kidnapped a man they believe tortured them in the past. The whole film is about them figuring out if tama ba talaga ang hinala nila and whether they should take revenge. Everything shifts when the kidnapped man’s wife gives birth. Biglang nagbago yung moral weight ng sitwasyon. The revenge fantasy starts to crack. Funny thing is, for people who kidnapped someone, they seem pretty chill. Parang normal lang yung conversations nila at times, which makes the situation even more unsettling. Visually, it feels like it was shot on a Sony cinema line camera with a kit lens. Very clean, very digital, very straightforward. Wala masyadong cinematic look. What I like is how the characters show different sides of themselves. They want revenge, but they also end up saving the pregnant woman’s life. Hindi black and white yung morality. Lahat sila may bitbit na contradiction. Naawa na rin ako sa kinidnap nila at some point. But when he finally admitted na tama nga ang hinala nila, parang may grim relief. At least hindi nasayang yung lahat ng ginawa nila, kahit mali pa rin yung ginawa nila. The ending is what really stands out. An almost 13 minute uninterrupted long take with nonstop acting. Pure tension, and performance carrying the whole scene. Impressive and exhausting in a good way.
