It honestly feels like Keanu Reeves just gate crashed into this production while on break from John Wick. Same serious face, same calm presence, but somehow it still works for comedy. Keanu’s serious delivery actually makes his funny moments land better. The Indian guy’s voice sounds like a cartoon character, which is kind of annoying. This feels a lot like Bruce Almighty. Light comedy with life lessons underneath. Nothing heavy handed, just simple reflections about purpose and meaning. Both the angel and the Indian guy are also searching for purpose, which makes the story feel more human despite the fantasy setup. Even the angel ends up smoking, which says a lot about how messy and frustrating life can get. There’s a strong look at the hardship of employment. How draining it can be, how hopeless it feels when you’re stuck just trying to survive. The film also touches on how nepo babies often don’t know what to do when they hit rock bottom, because they’ve always had boosted privilege to get where they are. At its core, the film questions how someone can still have hope when life feels miserable and unfair. It also reflects on corporate greed, but makes it more human by focusing on the workers inside the system rather than just the executives. Overall, it’s a feel good movie. Not trying to be groundbreaking, just warm, reflective, and easy to watch.
