This is a rewatch for me because I did not fully get it the first time. Now that my eyes are more used to black and white films, I can appreciate it more. It feels like a confession from an unreliable person. The way the story unfolds makes me question what is real and what is being manipulated. I can already see an early version of Nolan’s idea of “planting the seed,” similar to Inception. Making someone believe that an idea is their own choice when in reality they are being controlled. That concept is already present here in a simpler form. Cobb is a really good liar. The way he manipulates everyone and ends up triple crossing them is brilliant. He plays them all. I am really glad I gave this a second try. From a 3 star before, this easily becomes a 4 star for me now.
