Set design is colorful since Macau ang depicted setting, may pagka Wes Anderson yung vibe ng interiors. It feels playful and stylized, which is strongly contrasted by the poverty boat house set in Lammas Island. That contrast works really well in grounding the film back to reality. Scores are good too. They don’t overpower the scenes but help sustain the mood. Colin Farrell disappears in this role again. You don’t see the actor anymore, just the character. Sa dark scenes, parang same yung lighting and color grading with Joker. Muted, grim, and heavy. Ganda ng technical execution sa filmmaking nito. Very controlled and confident visually. Kala ko magkaka character development na nung kalagitnaan. Potek, nagnakaw na naman at pinanglaro. Addict talaga. Then later on, doon ko talaga naramdaman yung character development. He is done gambling. Yung twist na patay na pala si Dao Ming. Wtf talaga. That one landed hard. Stylish but grounded. The film doesn’t romanticize addiction. It shows how it keeps pulling you back until there’s nothing left.
