All the Empty Rooms 2025

The first few minutes already feel really heavy despite the silence and the very few words spoken. The film lets the emptiness of the spaces do most of the talking, and that quiet atmosphere makes the grief feel even stronger. The moment we enter Hallie’s room I was already crying. Hearing the father describe his memories of her and how much he longs for his daughter completely broke me. The way he speaks about her feels so sincere and painful. Personally I think the film would have been even stronger if we stayed more with the parents’ perspective instead of following the reporter’s journey as much. The emotional core for me is clearly with the family. But it is what it is. Even with that structure, the film still carries a very heavy emotional weight.
