Skyfall 2012
Now this is a proper opening! Controlled and allowing the action to breathe, unlike the opening of Quantum of Solace with its super shaky camera movements and fast cuts.
The story immediately gives me something to hold on to. There is a clear direction and emotional hook early on. But what really stands out is the cinematography. That's Roger Deakins for you! Some sequences look like somewhere between 1917 and Blade Runner 2049. Roger Deakins overload! This might be the most beautifully shot James Bond film, especially the third act with the silhouettes against the burning fire.
Javier is a great villain here. For me, he is even more effective here than in No Country for Old Men.
