Jaws 1975

Tinry ko panoorin sa 4DX and maganda naman, para ka talagang nasa boat, halos nakaka trigger ng sea sickness 🤢. Ang na miss ko lang, wala yung mist effect na naaalala ko dati sa Aquaman. Ang daming missed opportunities para gamitin yung effect na yun lalo na at most of the scenes are in the beach and ocean na nagssplash yung water. Yung strobe lights, ok lang na wala since most scenes nasa outdoor. Ang off lang is yung fan effect: kapag may scenes na humahangin sa buhok ng characters, biglang may malamig na hangin sa cinema. Ang weird kasi summer vibe ang scene pero malamig ang buga. Honestly, mas okay sana kung mainit yung ambience pag summer shots tapos lalamig lang kapag diving underwater para mas immersive. As a movie, typical 70s slow burn. Mabagal ang pacing, maraming takutin ka pero wala naman pala mangyayari 😅 parang toying with your emotion. This was my first time watching it, wala akong nostalgia factor (baka sequels lang yung napanood ko noon). Nabasa ko rin after na kaya less ang shark scenes is dahil sa technical difficulties sa animatronics, which makes sense. The ending was fine but felt rushed. Without watching teasers or reviews, I expected a straight up suspense thriller. Pero para sakin mas parang adventure, almost like crew ni Luffy vs a lone shark 🏴‍☠️🦈. The first half even felt more detective style. Wala yung "feel the fear". The ending though, bitin, roll credits agad with no closure: no report for the families, no accountability for the mayor na ayaw magpaclose ng beach. Parang walang justice ⚖️. For me, walang masyadong risk or payoff. I do not quite get yet how this became a “classic.” Maybe I missed something. Personally, I prefer Deep Blue Sea (mas hopeless, mas claustrophobic) or even The Shallows (no rescue, and time pressure due to high tide which makes the stakes feel more desperate). Still, I will admit without Jaws, those movies probably would not exist 🙌. My biggest let down: Honestly, di ko masyadong ramdam si John Williams dito. Alam kong iconic yung “duuun dun” theme, pero outside of that, hindi ko naramdaman yung same level of goosebumps effect na dala ng ibang works niya tulad ng Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Parang one note lang ang dating, effective pero hindi all around immersive.
