What if the afterlife is just staying behind and watching everything you left? Seeing your loved ones suffer because of your loss, then slowly watching them heal, move on, and forget you as time stretches into what feels like eternity. What if you are stuck in the same place even when everything around you is already gone And what does it feel like to watch the people you love continue their lives without you? What is the meaning of life if in the end you will just fade into oblivion? This film really leans into that kind of existential thinking. It is the definition of a slow burn. Honestly, it can feel like a nightmare for people with short attention spans. The director lets the scenes breathe and breathe and breathe to the point that it almost feels pointless at times. But I get that it is intentional. It wants me to sit with the emptiness and the feeling of being stuck. In the end, I am just glad he finally let go. After everything, that release feels like the only peace the film can offer. This is not for everyone. Only watch this if you are ready for something deeply reflective about loneliness and existence, and if you can stay focused without getting sleepy. The score helps a lot though. It adds emotional weight even when almost nothing is happening on screen. Much better on rewatch. From .5 star to 3 star.
