28 Years Later: The Bone Temple 2026

This review contains spoilers after the NON-SPOILER section. NON-SPOILER: Visceral from the first frame, with no easing you in, but beneath the shock, this is a more confident and cinematic entry than before, with stronger visuals, better lighting, and a clearer visual identity. What’s surprising is the emotional core, where trust and human connection quietly take center stage in a world where the infected are no longer the main threat. The film shifts its focus to moral decay, belief, and meaning, punctuated by a few bold, stylish sequences and an unexpectedly dark sense of humor. It feels more mature, more assured, and more thematic, and it’s worth staying until the very end. SPOILERS BELOW: Kadiri agad yung simula, puro sumisirit na dugo. Walang warm up warm up! Ang morbid nung skinning alive scene. I feel like throwing up! First time kong makaramdam ng ganun sa sine. Kadiri rin yung kumakain ng utak si Samson. Naalala ko yung sikat na video dati sa Youtube circa 2010 yung "Poso". Mga panahong wala pang censorship sa internet. Mas cinematic na ito compared sa naunang entry last year dahil Arri na ang ginamit. Lesson learned: wag gumamit ng iPhone sa films! Maganda na ang depth of field, at mas refined na ang register ng ilaw sa camera. Surprisingly, the relationship between the Dr. Ian Kelson and Samson feels like a psych therapy session. Unti unting binubuo yung trust, and it genuinely made me smile how warm and natural their bond became. This story feels like the latter part of The Walking Dead, kung saan wala nang silbi ang infected bilang threat dahil sanay na ang tao lumaban. Hindi na sila takot. Ang tunay na focus ay yung moral decay ng mga natitirang tao sa dystopian world. Napawow ako nung nacure na si Samson dahil inatake na siya ng kapwa niya infected. Kudos kay Dr. Ian. Bumalik yung memory ni Samson, pero nandun pa rin yung super strength. This made me think that he is already mutated and he will be the key for a possible cure for all infected if formula made by Dr. Ian can be replicated using trust, care, and psychological healing. There is still hope even if the people residing this new reality seems to give up on God saving them and thinking it is satan's command to make it worse. Ang galing ng temple sequence. Performance, cinematography, production design, choreography, tapos sinabayan pa ng rock song at fire dance. Ang angas! Ralph Fiennes was incredible here! Biglang naging dark comedy yung third act. Tables turned. Nagbackfire yung plano ni Jimmy Crystal, and it was oddly satisfying. Overall, Big credit to Nia DaCosta, Alex Garland and Sean Bobbitt. Mas mature, mas confident, mas cinematic. Hindi lang ito tungkol sa infected. It’s about what remains when survival is no longer the problem, but meaning and morality are. Make sure to watch til the end cause someone is definitely back!
