Toy Story 5 2026

Story is so good, I wanted to cry after the credits rolled. Honestly, the emotional beats here made me tear up even more than Andy leaving them. I swear, I did not expect that. This film captures the same spirit as the first and second films. It made me genuinely care for the characters again, something I personally did not feel as strongly with the third and fourth movies. In my head, this deserves to be the true third film of the trilogy. I also appreciate that the film gives Jessie more attention instead of relying too much on Woody and Buzz. The humor works too. I laughed out loud multiple times and completely forgot for a few hours that I am an adult. That is the magic of cinema! Visually, the film shines whenever the Buzz army appears. Those sequences are some of the most cinematic in the movie. I also like the new animation treatment whenever they enter the creative space during playtime. It makes everything feel more imaginative and childlike. Lilypad is an interesting addition. It almost feels like an LLM that has gone rogue and unexpectedly developed a conscience after realizing that the original objective of its programming was never truly fulfilled. The conversations of different toy era also feel like Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z trying to understand one another. That generational aspect adds more depth than I expected. And honestly, one of my favorite parts of the experience was the audience itself. The cinema was filled with energetic shouts and giggles from children. It was so cute and made the whole experience feel more alive.
