The Last House 2026
Greta Lee and Wagner Moura in one film? Count me in!
The Last House is essentially a family drama about resilience and survival amidst an apocalyptic event. The production design is great, and the performances help ground the story even when everything outside the family becomes increasingly strange and dangerous.
It reminds me a lot of Brick (2025) with the characters trapped inside their home, mixed with A Quiet Place (2018) because of how it uses an alien threat as the backdrop for a more intimate family drama.
The creature design also looks surprisingly good. Some of it seems practical, which gives the creature a stronger physical presence, and even when the film switches to CGI, it still holds up pretty well.
My only complaint is that it left me with more questions than answers. I felt like too many things were left hanging. The ending itself also feels a little off, like the writer got lazy.
