Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu 2026
Fun, charming, and dangerous!
Apocalypse Now style of starfighters in the opening credits is pure eye popcorn. The imagery make the scale feel exciting right away.
The gladiator sequence is also such a fun fan service moment. That is where the creature VFX really start to shine. But honestly, throughout the whole film, I think the puppeteers are the real MVPs. The practical feel of the creatures gives the movie more personality and charm than pure CGI ever could.
The Rotta the Hutt chase sequence is a really fun ride too. It feels very similar to podracing, especially in IMAX where the speed and movement become more immersive. There is also another scene that reminded me of Chamber of Secrets.
What I appreciate most is that this film has its own DNA. It does not try to copy the Skywalker saga, Rogue One, or Solo. It feels separate with its own identity.
Ludwig’s score is also impressive. The music balances thrilling moments and emotional beats really well.
My only complaint is the pacing. It can feel messy at times, like some sections move too quickly while others suddenly slow down.
