Storytelling wise, this has almost the same structure as Kita Kita (2017). It starts with that light, funny, almost harmless romantic energy, but slowly reveals that there is something much more emotional underneath the relationship. It also feels like My Amnesia Girl (2010) or My Only U (2008) because of the romance, longing, and that familiar Filipino romcom sadness underneath the humor. Empoy gave me a newfound appreciation for his performance here. I usually associate him with comedy, but here he really sold that feeling of being lost, confused, and constantly longing for something he cannot completely understand.
