Mystic River 2003

Maybe Sean Penn’s scariest role. Tim Robbins gave a great performance too. The confrontation between Jimmy and Dave at the river is so gripping. The tension is through the roof. The lighting and atmospheric score also add another layer of suspense, making the tension feel even heavier. My heart was pounding. Another standout for me is Sean Penn’s grief over his daughter, especially when he says he just wants to hug her again. But aside from those moments, nothing really left a lasting imprint on me. I guess I’m just not really a fan of whodunnit kinds of films.
