Mortal Kombat II 2026

Squid Game, Voldemort, LOTR, and John Wick are canon in Mortal Kombat. The movie has some genuinely funny beats that help balance all the violence and chaos. The fights are awesome in IMAX! I clapped many times because the triumphant tournament action. Of course, there is a lot of CGI, but thankfully it is good CGI, and the violence is satisfyingly brutal. Visually, the film leans heavily into blue and red motifs in both the lighting and grading. It gives the whole movie a stylized, game like feel that fits the world. The world building is also nice, and it expands the universe enough to make me more interested. The first movie was meh for me, but this one is much more well made. Bigger scale, more confidence, and honestly it gives Avengers vibes with how it builds the team energy.
