Ivan's Childhood 1962

Ivan’s childhood is beautifully shot. The cinematography really stands out. The contrast between the dreamlike imagery and the harsh reality of war is visually striking. But despite how good it looks, I just could not connect with the story and the characters. I appreciate the craft, but I stayed emotionally distant the whole time.
