Harakiri 1962

It feels like something pulled straight from an old album. Every frame looks like a photograph. Truly a motion picture in the literal sense. The lighting, framing, and lens choices are superb. Each shot feels carefully composed, like it is meant to be remembered. I also like how the slow burn storytelling unfolds. Now I can see why a lot of Hollywood directors admire this film. The control and discipline in the filmmaking are very evident. This film becomes a one man versus a lying system kind of story. A character trying to stand his ground against something much bigger and more corrupt than him.
