It Chapter Two 2019

Yeah, as the first act said, “It echoes.” And that is exactly how the movie feels. So much of the movie feels like an echo of the first one. The characters return to familiar places, confront familiar fears, and go through variations of things we have already seen before. It honestly becomes repetitive. Aside from the adult cast and a brief backstory, there is not much new happening here. Feels like a waste of talent for Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy. I am surprised that I actually liked the final act. The motion capture, CGI, real sets, and live performances were stitched together seamlessly. It gave the sequence a really good cat and mouse feeling. I love the gigantic Pennywise head with the legs of a spider. So imposing and villainous. I also love the difference in scale between It and the live actors. It makes Pennywise feel genuinely enormous and threatening. The massive difference in scale between them gives the creature a genuine sense of something larger than life (literally). I also love it when they use an enormous amount of blood. I already liked the Beverly sequence in the first movie, and they amped it up here by practically drowning her in it. Those visuals really reminded me of Carrie.
