Inherent Vice 2014

I wasn’t really engaged or invested in the film. I’m not sure if it’s the premise, or maybe I’m just not a fan of hippie movies. Or baka di lang talaga ako sanay sa investigative-type films, especially with PTA at the helm doing something this loose and hazy. Aside from the color palette and the long continuous shots, I honestly didn’t feel much of PTA’s usual DNA here. Wala yung emotional grip or character intensity na nararamdaman ko sa ibang films niya. The story didn’t pull me in. Instead of feeling intrigued, I mostly felt detached. The investigative angle didn’t hook me either. I never reached that moment where things click or become satisfying.
