Hardcore Henry 2015

Opening credits feel like Deadpool’s, playful and self aware, and agad it sets a fun and violent tone. Medyo nakakahilo sa una, parang ride. Exhilarating, heart pounding, and nakakalula dahil POV and one continuous shot style. Parang naglalaro ng COD, and at times parang Assassin’s Creed dahil sa parkour scenes. Ang galing ng sound design. Nakakaclaustrophobic, parang ako talaga ang binabaril, and I actually experienced this same effect in Dunkirk. Yung energy ng film reminds me of Crank mixed with Planet Terror. Supercharged energy with a score that almost feels like Daft Punk. Action is nonstop from start to finish. And yung gore dito parang Tarantino level, fun, graphic, and a bit playful in its violence. Plot is dumb but it is fine. This is one of those films where the action, the violence, and the blood are what matter. Hindi kailangan ng deep story. Ito yung tulad ng mga film na you wouldn't mind yung story, you just go with the flow. Editing rhythm keeps the film upbeat. Walang patay na segment, at kahit chaotic siya, it maintains a fun forward momentum that prevents you from feeling bored. Totally different Sharlto Copley dito. Very different range compared to District 9. Grabe range niya dahil iba ibang characters and personalities ang ginampanan niya dito, and it works surprisingly well. Bagay itong panoorin pag magkakasama kayong barkada at nagiinuman. The whole film feels like a big budget Youtube project in the best way possible. The prosthetics department really did a great job selling the idea that the gore is real. The blood splatter, torn flesh, wounds, and impacts are all convincingly tangible. Queen’s “Dont Stop Me Now” perfectly fits the last action sequence. It gives the final stretch a fun and unstoppable rhythm. Wildly entertaining. In terms of chaotic energy, immersive action, and wild brutality, this makes Deadpool’s movie feel like child’s play.
