Grave of the Fireflies 1988

Grabe ang war. Kawawa talaga ang mga bata. The film really shows how brutal conflict is, especially when it strips children of safety, family, and basic needs. The limited food resources are painfully scarce and survival feels almost impossible. Every meal becomes a struggle. It is mostly quiet and meditative. There are long stretches where not much is said, and that silence makes everything heavier. I feel very sorry for them. They are orphaned, starving, and almost invisible to the world around them. No food, no real help, and even the adults who should care for them are either overwhelmed or indifferent. It is a very emotional film. Simple in structure but deeply impactful. It does not rely on loud drama, it just shows suffering as it is, and that is what makes it hit so hard.
