I am today years old when I learned that Doraemon is actually a robot. Instantly brought me back to my childhood. It feels modernized, yet it never loses the classic Doraemon charm. The musical score is great, especially during the mystery and danger moments. The gadgets are amazing as always. They're still one of the biggest reasons why Doraemon movies remain so fun to watch. The first half feels like the sense of wonder from Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), with its beautiful exploration of the underwater world. The second half shifts into something closer to Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) and Aquaman (2018), focusing on the conflict between the earth dwellers and the sea dwellers. It's a fun adventure that balances nostalgia with a more modern presentation.
