If not, save this post and come back after. ⚠️ I really liked the opening heist, it was thrilling right away and carried by a high energy musical score that immediately pulled me in. The blue green gray color palette gives the film a cold and calculated mood, parang everything is operating in a morally neutral space, not heroic, not evil, just people doing what they need to survive. I noticed Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry’s characters wearing loose watches similar to Jordan Belfort. For me that signals wealth that feels undeserved or at least not clean, like money came too fast and without grounding. It visually supports the idea that their lives are built on unstable foundations. The film balances comedic beats with quiet downtime moments. Those pauses help humanize the characters instead of making them pure crime machines. Parts of it reminded me of Heat, The Departed, and Collateral because of the police motivations and thief moralities. The cops are not fully righteous and the criminals are not purely evil. The conflict feels less like good versus bad and more like different people protecting their own version of order. Chris Hemsworth’s character goes through clear change. He starts against violence but in the end fired his gun, kills someone (to protect Mark), and later opens up to his love interest about his family. Mark Ruffalo’s character also shifts. Before he wanted accuracy and truth in solving cases, but later he becomes okay closing a case even if it is not fully correct. He even steals and gives it to Halle Berry, and now drives a nice car which he previously avoided. It feels like the system slowly reshaped him into the kind of person he once opposed. I was honestly waiting for Chris Hemsworth to say “we know each other, he’s a friend from work.” Missed opportunity!
