13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi 2016

Colors, explosions, and occasional lens flare are definitely Michael Bay DNA. The camera movement, camera angles, tight sweaty shots, slow-mo debris, sparks flying everywhere. Real explosions, real fire, real smoke. All practical. It genuinely feels like a real battleground. Heart-pounding and nail-biting throughout. Bagay na bagay talaga ang style ni Michael Bay dito. Black Hawk Down level yung risk at claustrophobic “mouse trapped” feeling. The trailer honestly doesn’t do the film justice. The action is relentless and immersive. Every firefight feels heavy and dangerous, and the constant motion of the camera puts me right in the middle of the chaos. I can feel the exhaustion, panic, and adrenaline of the soldiers as the night drags on. This could have been a 4.5 for me, but there are moments that pulled me out. Some tactical decisions felt stupid. Why are they still waiting for the bad guys to fully form up when they already know they’re armed? I don’t know much about rules of combat, but when it comes to survival, anyone moving towards me with a gun in their hands should already be considered hostile. Still, the film is well crafted. Great acting across the board, especially Pablo Schreiber. What an upgrade from Orange Is the New Black! In the end, there’s really no winner here. War only creates widows. Bureaucracy killed them, not bullets. Not guns. That lingering bitterness is what stays with me after the credits roll.
