It feels more like watching a stage play than a cinematic experience. Very OA. The acting is over the top. Exaggerated facial expressions, with big exaggerated movements and very theatrical framing. Storywise, it reminded me of my recent watch, The Last Duel (2021), because both deal with prejudice against women, multiple perspectives of the same event, and the idea of trial by combat. Because of its simplicity, I can’t really rate this higher. I was expecting something more profound and epic from Kurosawa. Watched on Plex.
